Haywire Ranch GRASS-FED BEEF

Locally raised grass-fed beef is now available direct to your home from The Haywire Ranch. The Haywire Ranch is owned and operated by Cory & Jill Webster. Our beef is humanely raised in the lush mountain, hillside and meadow pastures of Swan Lake and Downey, Idaho. Our selected black angus cross beef is raised the way nature intended. We do not use growth hormones/steroids or continuous low-grade antibiotics on our cattle. The conventional concept of confining the cattle and feeding them a steady diet of grain is not healthy for the animal, the human or the environment and we are opposed to it. Our cows are raised in a natural way using controlled grazing to optimize the nutritional value of the forage while allowing the pastures to rest and rejuvenate. During the winter months while mother cows are calving they are fed hay raised from the same pastures they have grazed during the prior grass season.

Why should I choose “Grass-Fed Beef”?

It tastes better:

Grass-fed beef is from cattle that are fed only grass and other natural forages. Conventionally raised cattle are fed grass and corn. Cattle raised on grass have a much cleaner texture and more natural beef flavor. Grass-fed beef is leaner and has less fat content.

It’s healthy:

Grass-fed beef has many health benefits: healthy omega 3 fatty acids; good-for-you CLAs; lower in fat and calories than conventionally raised beef. Conventional cattlemen inject their animals with growth hormones/steroids when they are young hoping the calves will gain weight faster. We do not believe this practice is healthy. Cattle are designed to eat grasses, not grains. A grain-based diet can cause physical problems for cattle, so feedlot owners feed their cattle continuous low-grade antibiotics to keep them healthy. Our grass-fed cattle are free of these low-grade antibiotics and growth hormones.

It’s locally grown:

Your choice to purchase grass-fed beef that is locally grown is a positive way to protect our environment, to keep the food supply fresh and clean and to keep the local farmers and ranchers in business. We invite our customers to visit the ranch and discover the benefits of supporting locally grown food.

It’s good for our environment:

Confined Feeding Operations (CFO’s), are a proven source of pollution to our air and water. Unless you find beef specifically marketed “Grass-fed”, it has most likely come from a feedlot.

According to recent studies, grass-fed animals might help reverse the greenhouse effect. The studies suggest that properly managed pasture store carbon, instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. We believe that if we treat the animal humanely and work closely with nature’s pure cycles of life, that our cattle and our land will be healthier.
